A man in Virginia is facing multiple charges for causing an accident due to drunk driving. DUI charges can lead to serious consequences and when an accident and injuries result, you could even face felony DUI charges. Cody Morgan, a 41 year old man, was driving his truck on Sunday morning when he is believed to have been driving under the influence. Police also believe that due to his intoxication an accident was caused and another driver was hurt. Morgan was driving with a passenger when he struck a tree. The passenger side of the vehicle received most of the damage. When bystanders came to help, they noted that they smelled alcohol on the driver.
The passenger suffered head injuries as well as a disfigured arm and shoulder. He was brought to the hospital for a full evaluation but he likely experienced skull fractures and a broken arm. As a result Mr. Morgan is facing charges for maiming, DUI, and refusal of a blood or breath test. These offenses can result in penalties like jail time, probation, fines, community service, DUI driving classes, and more. On top of that, you can also experience license suspension and an increase in your insurance rates. The best way for you to avoid these consequences is to fight your charges and avoid conviction.
